Elliott Page Announces He Is Transgender
Canadian Actor Formerly Known as Ellen Page
Star of 'Juno' and 'The Umbrella Academy'
HOLLYWOOD, CA - Elliot Page, the Canadian actor formerly known as Ellen Page, has announced that he is transgender. The Oscar-nominated star of "Juno" and "The Umbrella Academy" made the announcement in a personal statement posted on his social media accounts.
"I'm trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot," Page wrote. "I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self."
Page, who was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1987, has been acting since childhood. He starred in the 2005 film "Hard Candy" and earned an Academy Award nomination for his role in "Juno" in 2007. He also starred in the "X-Men" film series and the Netflix series "The Umbrella Academy."
